ELEVATION'S MISSION.
The Doncaster Handicap.
Early this week Mr W. E. Bidwill, owner of Elevation, decided to send the little horse across ■ the water to try and Win the Doncaster Handicap, to be run at the C.J.C. meeting on April 18th. The horse was shipped yesterday m charge of Jack Farmer, and .later on Sid. Reid, who has piloted him m most of his successes, will make the trip to Sydney and steer him once again. It will come as a surprise to most people to learn that the colt's mission will be the Doncaster Handicap, m which . he has received 9.1. During the week the wires were touched and a good round sum was secured for the owner, one commissioner alone securiniic £3000 at a price averaging —there's that Gaming Act again. The Doncaster Handicap is a very hard race to win. Just as hard as the Newmarket Handicap, and it must be admitted that Mr Bidwill is as game as Ned Kelly to take it on. Such horses as Istria, Bright Steel, lolarie, -Ebullition, Little Toy and Tangaroa will keep Elevation going, and if 'he gets just one bump with that 9.1 on his back that will be the end of him. However, let us all cheer up, fqß if heroes get defeated (if I was $. bookmaker I would never cease laying him), he may win one of the valuable weiglvfc-for-age races on. the programme, such as the Autumn Stakes, the All At«l Stakes, the Cumberland Stakes or the A. J.C. Plate. Were he to be reserved for these races I am of the opinion that he would easily annex the Autumn and Cumberland Stakes, Mountain King and all thrown m.
