A POLICE STRIKE.
Dead Against Dinnie.
L. ■ j I What about a , policeman's strike •? ] lUnique, no doubt, but quite on the cards. It is talked of m the South j Island, at all events, and the peelers of the South expect the North to join ;them. And all on account of Cbm^ inissioner Dinixi'e. 'His gross inepti-i itude, his favoritism, his absolute partiality to a certain. class of people, his method of dealing witb -men, are the talk of the colony. TThings are sick m Christchurch, and ,the men are talking as strong as you can make it. < And can you .. blame 'them -? No. Only the 'other day a -strike was talked of, and it came -to I 'Hgh*f; and it might any day: -If -the whole force of New Zealand ■Hwent out on strike against damfool>ish Dinnie's audacious rule, what Vr.v.ould happen ? Think of it ? Of .course, there would be a number of ,well-pajd officers , and other smoddgers who Wbul4 - ■■-"-.'■ DINNIE, aitd'^iS! rliloques m- the WeUirigtQn of-ficeMhe-plaw wliele so'i^ariy scKeraes are hatched; the place wHere undelected^etiet' climes (details of them) are sfor^dy by the bushel i or cartload 1 ; .the place that is all right, and properly right, if it was only run on -light lines— but they, could be brought iip to line with the others m no tune •if I>here was a general strike. The •police don't belong to any union, and don't., want to. No conciliation or ■arbitration court' for them. But how would they like one under Dinnie's ■damnable rule and alleged audacious arapscallionism , which favors men not deserving and makes their confreres discontented, dissatisfied and damnvibly tired. The Christchurch police are now sick of Dinnie, and think it : js about time he .got out, or that the Government sacked him, or that he lost his cat, or something. . ,
