appear to realise the gravity of his position, and took matters coolly. He is a typical bucolic, 35 years of age, and was taken to the Terang lock-up. A court was held on the same afternoon, and the police asked for a remand. Mr Fitchett, who appeared for Chard, had no objection to the remand, but applied for bail. The Bench decided to order the remand as requested by the police, and to grant the application for bail, accused to enter into a personal recognisance of £500, and to find two sureI ties of £250 each.
