") The following cable, appeared m tho Sydney dailies during the' past week :— • l A Bishop's Bond.— Dr. Nevill's Appeal Granted.— London, February 11.— -The Court of Appeal has reversed the decision of the late Mr Justice Gfantham m favor of the plaintiffs m the action brought by the executors of the late Jame« .Parker Penny against the Bishop of Duinedin, Dr. Nevill, for tie recovery of a bond of £10,000. The Court of Appeal has entered judgment for the defendant. Beneath this was the following supplementary footnote :— Thiswas an action brought on a bond made by the defendant on July 6; 1876, by which he was to pay to Mr «. James Parker Penny, his heirs, executors, and assigns, £10,000. with interest. The amount was to be paid within six months of the death of defendant's wife, Mary, who died on November 27, I^os. and who was -daughter of ,= J a ires Parker Penny. The def-nce was that the' Bishop, when he made the bond, did not understand its nraning.
