"CHRISTIANS" CHASTENED AT CHRISTCHURCH. Morgan and Mead and the Mob. A Hot Time m the Old Town. The holy city of Christchurch, which- 'has just been given a foretaste of hell, has lately been infested with parsons, or sin-shifters, or sky-pilots of varying degrees of sanity and all preaching a different brand .of religion or any old sort of religion that has. neither head nor tail to it- Who the "Christians" are isn't exactly known, "but at all events a small mob of them have been conferencing, and praying, and going down the Avon m boats and having a right good time entirely. Mormons," and, it was taken- up all round to such an extent that they had ,to flee for their lives. They were ohased here and there and everywhere, and showed that they possessed a pretty fair sprinting capacity m a time of need. A.ll escaped except two psalm-singing sousers named C. Morgan and E. Mead, and they got an awful doing. Mead, however, escaped, after the pair had struck j two friends m the shape of Sergeants Bird and Brooks.
