THE DALGLEISH CASE.
_ » ■ AN APPEAL TO WORKING MEN. Help the Widow and Orphans. TO THE EDITOK. Sir,— l read m your paper on Saturday last the case of Mrs Dalgleish. whose husband was drowned at sea. This evidently is a very sad case and calls for practical sympathy. 1 have enclosed £1, and 1 hope you will open a subscription list, and if every one of your readers would give one shilling each, ' enough money cOuld be raised to buy her a cottage. Now, we hear so much about the working man, let us see how he will act. If enough money could not be got to buy her a cottage, enough might be raised to get her some good machinery to start a laundry. With best wishes for her and her little children, —I am, etc., SYMPATHISER. Wellington, January 27, '08. "Sympathiser" asks that his name shall not be published, but "Truth" knows him to be one of the truest .and liiost unselfish of Wellington's philanthropists. He docs good by stealth, and doesn't want any glaring advertisement about it. "Truth" will add its quota to the list, and. will be pleased to receive any sunis i ' that may be forwarded for this most deserving case. All " donations will be published from week to week.)
