TREATMENT OF BARMAIDS.

A Very Hot Boss. TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— l wish to bring under your notfee the monstrous conditions under which the girls m one of the leading hotels work. The boss is a bad-minded, suspicious man, who thinks all girls are thieves and worse. His treatment of the girls is cruel. Fancy a girl not being allowed to leave her bar during working hours on any pretext whatever without ringing and getting special permission. A piece of petty tyranny this that might result m a girl injuring herself for life. Whilst I was there, and I can assure you I didn't stay long, none of the girls do, we were forbidden to ■ laugh, or to shake hands with a customer, or talk to anyone m the house except m the bar.. In fact we couldn't call our souls our own on account of the endless, silly restrictions put upon us by this little jumped-up cad. I would liko you to publish this, sir, to let the public know what we girls have to put up with at certain houses. I have worked for many hard bosses m my time but never one to equal this man for contemptible meanness.— l am, etc., ONE WHO SUFFERED.
