A country sawbones visited Wellington on Monday and had a glorious time. In a Lamtoton Quay pub he met a youthful Hinglishman who had been sent out here for his family's good ; he was to go on to a sheep run or something, and has been busy farming m the hostelry mentioned for the past four months. The shickered doctor had an argument with the remittance person on some abstruse point, and the pair adjourned to the street to . settle matters, when the newchum was the recipient of violence on his countenance. The police took a hand, and next morning an extremely dry medico pleaded guilty to being m a state of beer. /The 'charge of assault was withdrawn after a hurried conference with the prospective sheepfarmer, and the princioals adjourned Sor » beer.
