This is how the "Daily News" sums up the display of the Wellington men m the representative match played last Saturday :— "The muchboomed Mitchinson was a failure, and did nothing to justify his reputation.; but undoubtedly the absence of Wallace affected the Poneke lad's play, as he has had Wallace with him m every match this season up till the present game. Green, at half, gave a grand exhibition, time and again he saved Wellington by going down to the rough stuff, made numerous marks, and sent his backs away with a swift, low pass that was a treat to witness. He is only eighteen years of age, and, judged by his present play, he should just _ about oust Roberts from his position as premier half m Wellington ntfxt season. Clcary also played a solid game, and showed a lot of cleverness ami dash m his play. Tho other backs were fair, but their play was not out of the ordinary. In the forwards, Wilson stood out, working like a Trojan all through tbe game ; Dewar and Osborne also showed up prominently. Kin"-, the wing man, evidently wanted to make the match a personal one with Sfray, the green winger. They showed each other numerous points (some of them not xerv clean ones) but if a prize was to have been given for the most tricks. Gray would probably have got it."
