THE AGENT IN DEFENCE. «
Mr Trickett, the house and' land agent, w?io, last weak, was, in' "Truth," taken to task over the allegation that he 'had twice received 17/ for the rent of a house m South Road, has given what he declares to " be the correct story- He admits that 17/ was obtained from thje individual, who told his story m his office, and, moreover, he admits that that individual returned the key of the house and declared that he wouls . not take it, and that he demanded the 17/ back, which was not returned to him. Th&re were several persons after tire said house, and a few days later it was taken by ,a tenant, who paid down the 17/. Then 12/ was returned to the "Truth's"informant. 5/ betog deducted, as the landlord had to toe considered. However, Mr Trickett did not get a receipt for the 12/. as any ordinary, business man would certainly do. H* denies • that he kept the 17/. and "Truth" publishes his denial with pleasure. It is only too willing tiy giwe the two sides. of every story..
