City inspector Jas. Doyle was instrumental m having hauled, before a S.M.s Court Bench, on Wednesday last,' one , slit-eyed Celestial named Nan Kee. -v^hose pffenjie consisted m allowing filth to accumu-' late, m his back yard .at ,Tinak.ori Road. There, wexe, it appears, about 14 cases of rotten fruit stajcked, up m the yard, \and instead of removing it /daily, the Mongolians allowed it to. accumulate, and the result was a public nuisance. . There were three J's.P. on the bench, and they estimated the damage done at £1 and 7s costs. *'. ■" ' f . ■ ; There are other Chinese backiyjaxds m the city that could very well do with a visit frpm .our municipal inspectors. The Chinese are a source of trouble to the inspectors, yet it ,is seldom that they are taken to Court. If the offenders were ' white men a different tale would be' told.
