A new Mqrman Church was opened at Mangakahia recently. The opening, sery'ice was attended .by ' 577 Europeans and 443 Maoris. The service was conducted m Maori, and was, interpreted for the benefit of the Europeans present. The edifice is 50 feet long by 24ft high, and has a steeple 50ft high. Eighteen elders were present, and there was a large gathering of Europeans and Maoris. George Abraham Cheetham, a youth, was charged at the Penrith Court (New South Wales) with attempting suicide..
