" DIAMOND " JONES.
. . TO THE EDITOB. ' ■ Sir,— You are much to be thanked by every parent for your exposure of the methods of Mr Judkins Jones, of the Cankerous Caramel Confectionery Co. There is just one point I would like to emphasise ; Mr Jones is a prohibitionist and believes m the > right of the people to put down with a strong hand the sale of liquor, because, he alleges, it is poisonous and a danger to youth. Now that Mr ' Jones' caramel toffee has been proved to be the same, ought not Mr Jones' right to continue his business to be submitted to the vote of the people? And^ supposing that confectioners had -to ' submit to an annual license, could Mr Jones, as a member of , the- licensing committee, Jin honesty renew Mr Jones' license ? Seriously, the idea of Mr Jones, after this conviction, continuing to sit m judgment on other victuallers, more honest than himself, is intolerable. If he won't go out, he should be biffed out.— l am, etc., ' T. M. SMITH.
