Being a "number" Tom Wilford has right of entree to any of H.M. Prisons m New Zealand, and while away enjoying his holidays the member for the Hutt made it his business to visit the Waiotapu Prison settlement m order to see for himself whether all was well and whether any of the prisoners had any complaints. One of the "greys," interviewed, seemed to take a keen interest m his paternal country's politics and wanted to know when the elections' were likely to be held. "Not for a couple of years," observed Tom. who- elicited that the reason of the question was because of the new electorates. The M.H.R. found himself m the role of interviewed .instead of. interviewer,, and when asked if prohibition was likely to be carried looked horrified and declared it would nit ns. "Well, it <:u<-!ii; to Ip." sa.'d the convict, "we have it here." Then Tom left-
