A HERO.

* { Weliingtonian's Noble Act. On Friday morning, shortly before eight o'clock, occurred another of those brave deeds which make one proud to be a Britisher. Just opposite the . boating shed on Jervois-qu-ay, a young man was taking his customary morning swim. Suddenly, with a loud "Oh !" he was observed Ito throw up his hands and sink. As luck would have it, Mr W. Jones, a son of Captain .Jones, of the Harbor Ferries Service, happened to be passing along the Quay on his way to work. Seeing what had hannened he dashed into the water, without waiting to divest himself of boots or clothes, and swam out to , the spot where- the unfortunate man had sunk. Jones dived, and after remaining under water a considerable time, reappeared, dragging the apparently lifeless swimmer by the guernsey. Quickly he brought him ashore, and there artificial respiration was successfully applied. Spectators are loud m their praises- of Mr Jones' noble , action and the matter is to be brought before the Royal Humane Society, with a view to his receiving the lifesaving medal, which he so richly deserves, „ . ■ l
