BRAINY BOWLERS.

There ,aa'e some cute coves m Kelburne Bowling Club and they have just got m a bit of fine work and brought off a job that for jobbery would not bring the blush of shame at his bungling to the cheek of a professional pedestrian heat-squarer. It appears that last year there were a series of competitions for the Junior and President's Bowls and while. some players "stood pat" and seemed to be a "moral" a lot of the favored silvertails were Jilce the cow's tail, all behind The season was closed by the waving wing of warring Winter before . the competitions could be completed and it was agreed to continue them to a finish this season. Now has come the fine "pointing" of the brainy bowlers who had been put- out m their rounds. They laid their heads -together aud by force of numbers carried a resolution that the whole competitions shall start afresh. This, of course, gives the already defeated trundlers of the biased sphere as- good a chance as those who had earned a position 'way out m front and it is about as cute an instance of crafty cunning combined with gross unfairness as can be remembered at moment of recording it. If this, is "gentlemanly amateur sport" then give us the straight-out crook, pro. every time.
