SALES' SALACIOUS SALES.

Vendor of Filthy Photos. Fixed.

There has been a good deal written about alleged indecent postcards latterly, but. some photographs produced m Christchurch Police Court t'other day took the bun. They were absolutely indecent all right— no question at all about them. A number that have figured m Court cases have been classical, others merely humorous, and others • vulgar, but the trio which Frank Sales;, of Colombo-street, had to answer For were simply horrible and outrage ./vr.'iicy m every particular. There ure prurient minded people m the city who create -a demand for such offal, and that demand was promptly supplied by Sales, who was living with three women m his little chateau. And it is asserted that one or more of Christchurch ladies— who are no doubt of high lineage— figured m one or more of these productions. Well, their postures may have been a thin.-r r.f beauty, but those of a male person were gross m their obscenity. Detective Cox gave a friendly call on Sale*,' and the outcome was that the prurient picture post-card codger was summoned to appear at the Magistrate's Court on the following week. But the 'gent had no intention of turning up there for a dose of quod, and cleared South, intending to make for Brisbane. The astute Cox heard of this and had a warrant issued for the arrest of Sales. This was executed at Dunedin, much to the surprise of Sales, who was brought to Court a couple of days afterwards. The accused was obliged to plead guilty to all three charges. Allusion .was nir.de m court to the filthy, disgusting nature of the cards, which were mainly sold to youths \t i h6. spend their pocket money m that kind of thing Mr Day, S.M., m sentencing Sales" to six months' imprisonment, described (hem as the most viie he v had seen. It was only the other day that the prisoner was convicted and fined fora similar offence, but the, -cards collared on that occasion were of a decidedly milder nature. Cox deserves a word of credit, for trapping this low, filthy 'brute, and there ore others who ought i to be m the same pigeon-box as salty^ Sales.
