THE KEYS-TRACY MATCH.

7 TO THE EDITOB,

; Sir.—ln the columns of "Truth" of i the 6th inst., I notice that "a sport" takes exception to the proposed return match between Keys and Tracy and would like to substitute another man. Well, . if you can get a better man by all means do so; but if you cannot do so why should not Tracy have another chance ; and it is a recognised thing to give a man a second try when the first was a fairly close thing. "Sport" suggests a man named Tom McGregor. I believe McGregor was a very good man ten or fourteen years ago at I his. weight (eight or nine stone) and won one or two good fights ; but "Sport" makes me smile when he says Tracy's style is. of the old school. Well, what would he call McGregor's style, as he was taught by Jem Mace ? I suppose it would be limited to the time of Moses. If "Sport" wants to see a match with Tommy why not match him with Billy Murphy, who thinks he is the best man m New Zealand (and Mr Editor, I take exception to that remark of yours when you say that Key should have easily beaten Tracy m three rounds if he had not wanted to give I the sports a run for their money). 'No, Sir, i never heard of a boxer ' doing so, before. Their troubles aoout tiuf sports. Win, and as quick as you, can, is their motto, and it was more to Keys reputation to beat an almost unknown man like Tracy as quick as. he could than to let him i stay the limit. He found a tougher man than he expected, and therefore took no chances. Ii Tracy meets Keys again we will see m, the former a far better and much improved man, and one far moire confident, and perhaps , a different decision. Your suggestion re getting two good men from Australia is a good one, if they/ would fight fair ; but would they ? ' I think not. If you have had anything to do with boxers you would know what I mean ; so let us stick to those we know, and who we know will fight fair, and who cannot be bought at lanv price. Hoping you will insert this.— l am, &q., NOTA BENE. (If "Nota Bene" will refer to our boxing columns he will find that the Keys-Tracy match is off for tie present. We profess to know a little about boxing, perhaps not so much as our correspondent thinks he knows, and we do not know that Australian boxers are prone to fight fakes, and evidently the Wellington and Canterbury Boxing Associations hold the same opinion, .because the latter are bringing Bob Turner across and the Wellington Association is offering terms to Hock Keys to revisit , this city and will probably match him with Turner. — Ed. "Truth.")
