A Pardonable Mistake.
An immigrant, one of those imported cheap labor machines, waiting employment, went for a day's fishing between Ngahauranga- and Petone. Tiring of sitting on a rock waiting for a nibble he thought he would try for larger scale. Went and sat on the fence close to thc railway and methodically lowered the bait into what he thought was a- river or lake. A youngster watching the cheerless object nerched. on the rail, waiting for a bite, went to him and said, "There ain't no fish there, Mister— that's a road./* *
