TWO SOULS.

Those two souls met at sunrise, at the spring ; A youth, and maid— with glad and tender eyes That shone with love and hope— and wondering, Their troth they plighted amid smiles and sighs.

He said : "My love, to thee I'll faithful be

As long as Time speeds to Eternity!"

Those two souls met at noontide, on the hill ; By Fate ordained to live their lives apart.

Lonely and sad were hoth— but loving still,' , Each the sad solace of the other's heart.

He said: "My love, that promise thou didst make, 'Twill not be long— and, keep it, for my sake."

Those two souls met at sunset at The Gates ; Her locks were grey and dim her eyes' sweet blue, But HIS at last ! All comes to him who waits ; [ He gently took her hand aud led her through. And Life began, and shadows rolled away; ■ Night fell on earth— but on them dawned the day. [ G.P-8., Sydney.
