MISSING MAIL MATTER.

"The Letter ThafrNever Came."

Where is the* Leakage ?

That there is '"somethings wrong iwith the. works'* inj!: Wellington Post appears undeniable, for not onily, do. ouitsMe citizens complain of rtheir letters becoming- "lost^ stolen or strayed," but expediences of let-ter-writers in "Truth" Office- itself, beaxi,. out these complaints. It is a very serious matter that people's letters should not reach their, destination, when entrusted to His Majesty's mails through authorised : channels, and one calculated to cause extreme uneasiness in the public mind. Yet the fact remains that letters posted, personally, by members of the staff of this paper have gone astray ; between Wellington and Sydney. And, as the addresses are extremely familiar to the Sydney postal people, the inference is plain that ,if they bad reached Sydney they : would also have reached their destii nation, it is just as reasonable, then, ito infer that the blame for their loss or deflection' lies in Wellington. Ei their they are lost in transit from the pillar-box at the Royal Oak corner, or Te Aro P.0., to the G.P.O. or else are sorted into the wrong bags, through carelessness, at headquarters ; and that anything of the kind is possible in extremely disquieting. It is not suggested that anything of a felonious nature is the cause of the disappearance of letters entrusted to the Wellington post office, but that there is leakage somewhere seems almost certain. It could scarcely occur at the other end if the letters once got into a Sydney bag.
