RAISING FUNDS IN CITY APPOINTMENt”of MANAGER DESIRED. The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association met last night, present Messrs C. G. Wilson (bhairman), H. J. Buck, A. Ronaldson, R. S. Johnston, L. Brabin, C. Drummond, W. J. Christopherson, and A. Varney (secretary). A letter from the Wellington Empires* Association approved of tne action of the Cricket Association in asking for copies of the proceedings of the New Zealand Cricket Council being forwarded to all cricket associations. The, chairman stated that he and Mr Johnston had been out during the day canvassing for" guarantees for shares in New„ f Zea!and Cricket, Ltd., and had obtained £2 05 in sums not exceeding £5, bringing Wellington's total to date to Much larger sums would be forthcoming after the mannger had been appointed. AUCKLAND v. WELLINGTON. The Auckland Cricket Association 4 * wrote preferring January 21st, 22nd and 24th the Auckland v. Wellington Plunket Shield match at Auckland. There was no indication of any racing fixtures which would clash. Alternative dates suggested were February 4th, sth and 7th. The first mentioned dates were accepted, the committee also agreeing to start at 2 p.m. on January 7th at Wellington, as Auckland will only arrive from the south that morning. The Canterbury Association wrote agreeing that their match with Wellington should commence at 11 a.m. on January Ist. * f PRESS^COMPETITION The "New Zealand Times" in their match against the "Dominion" on Saturday fielded a team of only seven on Kelburn Park, but managed to knock-up 168 in their first strike. Hendry headed tho batting list with 61, while others to reach double figures were: Davis 82, McDonald 28, Sealy 21, and Mummery 16. Coleman, who took 3 for 80, trundled well for the "Dominion." who at call of time had compiled 20 (Howat 13) for one wicket. "Evening Post" ran up 337 for seven wickets against "N.Z. Truth" at Newtown Park and declared. The principal scorers were j Forde 82, Nickless 57, Howitt 44, Blundell 44, Hanley 36. At call of time, "Truth" had lost , six wickets for 80 runs.
