COURT HAS NOT MOVED
WATERSIDERS’ DEFIANCE MAKING DIRECT - AGREEMENTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. MELBOURNE, December 4. Although the waterside workers defied the Arbitration Court by refusing to call the “no overtime” strike off, Judge Beeby has so far taken no action. Having disregarded Judge Beeby’s offer, the Watersiders’ Federation is now making efforts to effect agreements with the different shipping companies by direct negotiation. Already agreements have been reached with two smaller companies, and the watersiders claim that they have been made on their terms. Heavy losses are being sustained by both shipowners and shippers, owing to the strike. There are frequent delays in the sailings of steamers from various Australian ports, some being four days behind schedule time. Several coastal vessels have been laid up and tho crews paid off.
