The Tekoa, which has arrived at Auckland, brought the following blood .-tock:—The stallion Colossus (owner G. Carrington, Gisborne), a Cynthia filly and Tidac colt (owner, Eliot Davis, Auckland). The decomposed body of a man was found to-day in an old gumfield about four miles beyond Milford (Auckland). A receipt with the name ‘‘Hewitt” dated July 24th last, was found in the clothing. A gun was' found near the body, and the man’s head was badly mutilated. The trunk of a body dressed in bathing costume was discovered in the ix/ks near Lawyer’s Head, Dunedin, yesterday afternoon. The remains are supposed to be those of Henry ■Stephen Baker, who was drowned whilst bathing at Tomahawk on November 7 th. M iss "Winifred May Spershott, 23 rears of age, a victim of the recent iyphoid fever outbreak at> Masterton, has died. Deceased’s mother is one among seven other cases in hospital. A man named Michael Joseph O’Grady has been arrested at New Plymouth on suspicion of having been connected with the burglary at J. B. Gaisford’s, at Bulls. In the Supreme Court at Dunedin his Honour Mr Justice Sim heard a petition by Alex. Milne Begs praying that the company of Chas. Begg and Co., Ltd., be wound up. It was explained on behalf of Mr Begg that the company was pressing him for repayment of moneys advanced against; his shares, estimated to bo worth *£44,776. Ho had been managing director of the company since its inception. The company being.a private one bad conplicated matters. His Honour suggested a private arrangement, and after an adjournment it was announced that a satisfactory agreement had been arrived at.
