The bishops of the Anglican Church have issued a statement condemning General Hertzog’s native bills as being aimed at upholding the white civilisation at the expense of the native peoples. They say that the bills are inspired by white fear of the black man, and that they are inconsistent with the principles which might govern legislation affecting natirc races.
