STREET WIDENING

COUNCIL PURSUES POLICY FURTHER LAND TO BE ACQUIRED. The Wellington City Council is pursuing a fixed policy calculated to produce street widening, and in this regard it was decided at last night's meeting that an offer of £l2 be made for land required at the corner of Brighton and Clyde streets, Island Bay, for street widening purposes; and the land required for the widening of Mortimer crscent and Epuni street be taken under the Public Works Act. Tenders are to be called for the supply of an additional 400 tons of bitumen.
