HANDSOME BEQUEST
FOR RECREATION AREAS COUNCIL’S PROPOSALS. Provision for additiopal play areas in the city is made by a bequest of £SOOO by Mr George Shirtcliffe. The City Council decided last night to submit the following proposals to Mr Shirtcliffe for tho disposal of the bequest:— A play area with suitable apparatus to he equipped in the Grant road reserve at a cost not exceeding £ISOO. A play area with suitable apparatus to he equipped in the Central Park at a cost not exceeding £IOOO. A play area with suitable apparatus to he equipped in the Basin Reserve, south-west corner, fet a cost not exceeding The remaining £2OOO to he retained for subsidising £ for £ money raised by district associations for equipping play areas in their districts. Every such application to be approved by Mr Shirtcliffe, and no one association to receive more than £SOO.
