NURSERY DIVISION’S WORK The annual meeting of the Wellington South Nursing Division St. John’s Ambulance Brigade Overseas, was held on Tuesday, Airs Gaby presiding over a good attendance. The fourteenth annual' report, which was read and adopted, stated inter alia:—Excellent work has been caried out during the year. At the beginning of 1926 Mrs Taylor and Miss Reeves were appointed sick visitors. Subsequent to, the transference of Mrs McWhannel and Miss Atkins, members’ representatives qn the divisional committee to Wellington Suburban* Nursing Division, Mrs Miller and Miss Alclnnes were appointed to fill the vacancies. Mrs Helyer was appointed • divisional secretary and Airs Steptoe treasurer. Dr. Line’s place as divisional surgeon, was taken by Dr. Eric Luke. Airs Steptoe, in July, was promoted to the rank of corps officer. Members assisted with the association bazaar, and with a jumble sale and card evening raised £45. Lady Alice Fergusson, patroness, held an inspection of all nursing divisions, at which she expressed herself as well. satisfied with the work done. Lady Marjorie Dalrymple was also present. Members attended a morning church parade at St. Peter’s on St. John’s Day. Members also attended a reception to Lady Cecil. Alembers have demonstrated on a great many occasions and attended public duty on the sports fields. They were on duty at the Miramar carnival and Anzac Day, and have assisted at Poppy Day ana Rose Day. Seventy-four home-niirsing cases, 67 first-aid, and seven transport, and 239 public duty cases for the year amounted to a total of 387, an increase of 103 on last year’s figures. COMPETITIONS The divisional championship squad (1925-1926) consisting of Misses Kidd, Hankins, Anderson, Airs Betts, No. 4, competed at the Dunedin Exhibition competitions gaining first place for uniform and second for homenursing and the Horsley Cup. The competition for the divisional championship shield was won by Misses Gaby, Anderson, Mesdamcs Steptoe and Betts (No. 4). The division thanks Mr Fossette for his continued kindness. The Platts-Mills Cup squad test was won by Alisses Reeves, Gaby, Kidd, Mrs Miller, No. 1. The annual re-examination was held on October 12th by Dr. Paimer, all,members present having passed the test. The inspection of the division by Dr. Platts-Millß and Alajor Vine took place on November 9th At the annual competitions held on November 4th and stn the following were successful:—lnterdistrict Nursing Division Challenge Cup.— Wellington South A. Squad Ist (held since 1922). The squad consisted of Ambulance Sisters Gaby, Bruce, Anderson and Betts (No. 4). Interdistrict “Willowbank” Cup.— Wellington South A Squad Ist. District Challenge Rose Bowl. —Wellington South A Squad, won .by default.* District Sandhnm Trophy.—Wellington South, Nurses Gaby, Anderson and Mrs Betts, Ist; Squad B, Airs Thomson, Bruce, Miller, 3rd. The Barlt.rop Rose Bowl for Individual Home Nursing, was won by Mrs Thomson. The Robieson Individual Trophy.— Mrs Betts. Mrs Bennett’s TroflTiy.— Mrs Sykes. Airs Preston’s Trophy for Individual Improvising in Firstaid.—Miss Reeves. The division desires to thank numerous friends for help received during the year. St. Thomas’s scouts, Hinemoa Lodge for use of hall, Mr Smart for courtesy extended, Mrs Fossette for presenting the individual trophy, Dr. Palmer for conducting the reexamination, Mr Ludwig the hon. auditor, Dr. Platts-Mills, Sister Tocker, Dr. Line, Mr Wilson for lectures, Messrs Hislop, Richardson and Ward, for judging various competitions, Major Vine and Dr. PlattsMills for inspection, and the Press for publishing reports of meetings.
