In replying to an inquiry in the House of Commons by Sir Harry Brittain (Con.) as to what the Imperial Conference had accomplished Air Leopold Ainery said: “We based ourselves oil the Dominions’ complete equality of status and unity under a common Crown, thus giving clearer expression to equality in constitutional procedure.” Mr E. Thurtle (Lab.) asked: “Is it not the best comment that the Em-
piro now exists in name only?” Air Ainery: No. Mr Ainery expressed regret that, apart from the Imperial Conference’s resolution, he was unable to give further information on the proposed fast •hip scheme to Australia.
