THEFT FROM SHOPS
WOMAN SENTENCED COMMON OFFENCES. Dor Press Association. WANGANUI, November 30. Flora Ellen Williams, a married woman, aged 41, was sentenced to-day to fourteen days’ imprisonment with hal'd labour for a series of offences of shoplifting spread over a period of six months. The goods lt'covered were valued at approximately £2l, and wore eoinposed chiefly of drapery. Tho prisoner carried a large black ha't, and into this goods were droppeil. lii passing sentence, the magistrate, Mv Barton, said that there were three kinds of offences which were far too common: The thefts of bicycles by men. tho pillaging of cargo by transport workers, and, unfortunately, .shop-lifting by women. Ibo offenders in these cases should not expect a warning ~n eacit instance.
