WOMEN’S NATIONAL RESERVE
WELFARE BRANCH. At a meeting of the recently .form--14 welfare branch of the Women’s National Reserve, held in the new office of the W.N.R., 24, Fletcher’s Bujldings, Willis street, Miss l’ovt, who hat recently returned from abrokd and whose excellent secretarial work during the war was well known to many, generously consented to act aa secretary of the branch. The object of CTiis branch is to form a social and personal interest in all the patients—more particularly the women patients—in the mental hospital at Porirua, and to organise branches throughout the provinces of Wellington, Taranaki and Hawke’s Hay, which send patients to Pori--lU*» Arwiemefti* bstui wade
for special boxes of gifts to be sent at stated dates. At one meeting a letter expressing her sympathy and interest in this new branch of work was read from Lady Alice Fergusson, patroness of the VV.N.II. Most grateful acknowledgment of the box sent from the Seatoun branch has been received from tho matron of the institution at Porirua. The committee also desires to acknowledge donations towards tho initial expenses from Lady Hunter, of Porangaliau, and from Mrs ]). 11. Guthrie, who has been elected president of this branch, and is also the originator of the scheme.
