HUH VALLEY PROGRESS
ELECTRIC POWER BOARD IMPORTANT LOAN PROPOSALS. Considerable interest is being manifested by residents of the district included in the Hutt Valley Power Board’s area in the laon proposals for the etension of the electric light and l>owcr scheme. To-day a poll on the loan proposals (£150,000) will be taken, and as the demand for power, light, and heat lias exceeded all anticipations, those supporting the proposals are hopeful of success. Last night the final meeting was held at Upper Hutt. when Mr A. J. McCurdy, Mayor of Upper Hutt, and chairman of tho Hutt Valley Electric Power Board, and others spoke on the loan proposals and what they meant to the continued progress of the Hutt Valley district. Votes of thanks were passed to the speakers, and those present expressed cordial approval ot the proposals as outlined. tj is claimed that in a short period the Hutt Valley district has jumped into Dominion prominence and that (outside the four centres) it now one of the most successful of the electric power dUtrieU in New Zea- | land.
