THE GREATEST EVER
PROSPERITY IN AMERICA MR HOOVER SURVEYS RECORD YEAR ALMOST NO UNEMPLOYMENT By Telegraph.—Press Assn.-Copyright Australian and N.Z*. Cable Association. (Received November 29, 7.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, November 29. Mr H. C. Hoover, Secretary for Commerce, in his annual report, pictures the fiscal year just ending as one unsurpassed in the history of the United States in respect of volume of production, consumption, physical quantity of exports and imports and rates of wages. It is declared in the report that there is practically no unemployment In the country, which is able to maintain the highest standard of living it has known. Mr Hoover states that financial improvement in Europe is almost general, but that France’s difficulty in solving the problem of currency is
one of the most unsatisfactory spots in international finance. Manufacturers showed a gain of 7 per cent, throughout manufacturing industry. There was little change in shipping conditions, though the idle tonnage in United States, and the world as a whole, fell off one-tenth.
