BANKRUPT DISAPPEARS
BURNS BOOKS BEFORE LEAVING. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 25. “This is a shocking state of affairs,” said the Official Assignee, Mr G. N. Morris, at a meeting of creditors of Neil John McNeil this morning. “He burned his books, ho left his partner to bear the responsibility, and he disappeared. There is nothing that can be said for him.” A deficit of £162 was shown in the statement. The business in which he was associated with a partner was a picture house at Waitoa. The Official Assignee remarked that the bankrupt had disappeared, and tho creditors did not know where to find him. The meeting decided to oppose the bankrupt’s dischnrgo until he made some effort to reduce bis liabilities, and a motion of sympathy was passed with the partner.
