EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETS REPORT ON APPLICATIONS. A meeting of the executive committee of the War Relief Association took place at noon yesterday. Present were Messrs L. 0. H. Tripp (chairman), C. M. Luke, A. Veitch, Clement Watson, and the secretary, Air A. O. Leach. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES The following reports were submitted ; The applications committee has met on four occasions since your executive committee met on October 29th, 1920. During that period of 22 working days there have been 242 cases under action ; of these 39 were new claims and 203 old cases, whilst there are 102 cases under action,- the remainder comprising 140 cases and embodying 159 applications, were disposed of hv us. The total number of applications dealt with during the period under review, inclusive of those considered by the emergency finance committee and ordinary finance committee is thus shown to be 264. During the period under review the emergency committee met on 18 occasions, and dealt with 56 of the 159 applications referred to above. The number of persons who called at the office during the period previously mentioned was 252. Of these, 139 applied for direct and 113 for indirect assistance. The finance committee has met on ono occasion since the last meeting of the executive committee on October 29th, 1926, and, in addition to its ordinary function of controlling tho financing nfFnirs of the association, has dealt with 22 applications for monetarv assistance hv wav of loans. Of these, 13 were old cases, and 9
were new applications. The former were revised in connection with amendments to the original terms of repayment, the amount involved being £1292 15s, and the unpaid balances £BOS. The total value of the 22 applications dealt with amounted to £2712 153. During the five monthly meetings—. Juno to October, 1926—0 f the finance committee, no less than 198 “loan” cases have been dealt with. This number is greater by 25 per cent, than the number of “loan” cases considered by the committee during nny previous year of its existence.
