DAMAGES AWARDED

COLLISION AND ITS SEQUEL A collision between a motor-car and a ’bus in Jervois quay in September last had its sequel in the Magistrate’9 Court yesterday, when A. J. McGowan, of Australasian Films (N.Z.), Ltd., claimed damages from the Wellington Suburban Motor-’Bus Company. Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., was on the bench. The plaintiff said he was driving along Jervois quay at 2.30 p.m. on September 6th. He dr£w up for the purpose of crossing the road, and put out his hand to show his intention of crossing, and at that moment the defendant company’s ’bus crashed into him from behind, shifting his car fifteen feet, and, running on, collided with a horse-drawn vehicle owned by Messrs Adams and Blyth. A witness for the plaintiff said that he estimated the speed of the ’bus at o 5 miles an hour. He had measured the skid marks of the ’bus, which he found had skidded 66ft before it struck the plaintiff’s car and another loft before striking the other vehicle. The defendant did not appear, and judgment was given for the plaintiff for £2o, with costs. Mr Evan Parry acted for the plaintiff. 1
