OBITUARY
MR CHARLES R. STUART The death occurred last night at his residence in Brougham street, Wellington, after a short illness of Mr Charles Robert Stuart, at the age of 59 years. Mr Stuart, who was born in Wellington, was the eldest son of the late David Thomson Stuart, of Wellington. He was educated at Wellington College, and was for some years in business as a merchant in Wanganui. Returning to Wellington he accepted the appointment of secretary to the New Zealand Investment, Mortgage and Deposit Company at the inception of that company, and on giving up this position some five years ago he was appointed a director. In 1921 he joined the firm of Henry Kember and Son, and remained in partnership with them until early this year, when he went into business as an auditor and accountant. He married a daughter of the late Mr J. E. Page, of Wellington. The late Mr Stuart was possessed of a hind and happy nature which endeared him to a wide circle of friends. In his younger days he took an interest in athletics, and was a member of the Athletic Football Club. He leaves a widow and son (Mr D. F. Stuart, solicitor, of Wellington), and a daughter (Mrs D. G. Braik, of Philadelphia). The funeral will leave his residence to-morrow at 9 a.m. REV. SAMPSON STEPHENS A Press message from Gisborne slates that the death occurred yesterday afternoon of the Rev. Sampson Stephens, late vicar of Te Puke, and ‘urnterly of Clyde, aged 60 years.
