ARTILLERY DANCE
“FOR THE QUEEN.” There was a large attendance at the Navals boating shed hall last night, when a dance was held in honour of the Artillery Queen in the forthcoming Military Pageant. The hall was decorated appropriately with streamers of dark blue and red ribbon, and the dais where the band was stationed was decorated in the same way. The balcony overlooking the harbour was very popular between dances, and altogether a very good time was spent by the guests. The queen. Miss Eileen Norwood attended during the evening, accompanied by Mrs Norwood and her maids of honours. They were received by Colonel and Mrs Falla and Major Abel. Mrs Norwood wore a black dress, with silver and black velvet coat; Miss Norwood was in silver lame embroidered in rose shades in an all-over pattern, and she wore a cloak of rose-coloured velvet, edged with deep fringe; Miss Falla wore orange georgette embossed with brown velvet; Mrs Abel was in black, with silver lace. There were also present Col. and Mrs McQuarrie. the latter in accordeon pleated rose chiffon; Major and Mrs Lyon, the latter in shrimp pink satin; Major and Mrs Haughton, Mesdames Pocock. McClellan, and Jackson of the committee. Lieutenant Brown. Mr and Mrs Tilton-Mist, Captain and Mrs Fenton, the latter in palest pink georgette with silver beads, Captain Carter, Lieutenants Hall, Jenkins. McArthur, and many other ranks in the artillery and itavals. AU the officers present were in uniform. The dances will be held weekly in aid of the queen's candidature.
