It is reported that Captain Hugh Hos king Williams died recently in Hongkong. The late captain was extremely well-known in New Zealand, having been in command of several Union Company’s vessels. His first command in the Union Company was the old Te Anau, his others being the Flora, Komata, Moura, Kaiapai, Atua, Navua, Wahine, Maitai, Tofua, and he was appointed to the Monowai when she took the advance party to Samoa. The deceased, after serving his time with the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, joined the Union Company on January Bth, 1902, and was appointed 4th officer of tho Monowai. The late Captain Williams was horn in Auckland on March 27th, 1878.
