(By Telegraph—Special to “Times.”) PALMERSTON N., November 24. The annual meeting of the AshhurstPohangina Racing Club was held today in fine weather. A good crowd was in attendance, and it was rewarded with a good day’s sport. The Cup was won by Kiliaire after a good struggle with Nukumai. The trophy which went with the race was presented to Mrs Gaisford by the Hon. R. F. Bollard. Mr Don 'Fraser replied on behalf of Mrs Gaisford, Mr Gaisford not being present owing to being engaged in shearing. Bonideer made no race of the open six. She took charge at the barrier rise, and was never headed. The Trentham trainer, A. Goodman, had a regular day out. He succeeded in winning three races per medium of Bonideer, Kilmezzo, and Cerf. For the day the total investments were £16,430, as compared with £16,825 on the corresponding day last year. The running during the day was questioned twice. Eloquent’s form was the subject of an inquiry, but after due consideration the parties concerned were given the benefit of the doubt. In the Cup there was some interference with Santonio, but after deliberation no action was taken. BLOOD RED WINS HURDLES Killoch, Garzon, and Merry Sarto were taken out of the Hack Hurdles, and Blood Red and Polyastra were hacked. Tempean and Polyastra were the early leaders from Axle and Blood Red, with Tamakana next. Axle went up to the front going down the back, hut at the half-mile post he was displaced by Blood Red and Tamakana'. This pair led into the straight from Gurnion and Axle. In the run to the post Blood Red easily held his lead, and won comfortably by six lengths. Tamakana was three lengths ahead of Gurnion, with Empire Camp fourth. Thero was a big gap to the next horse, Axle. White Ringlet and Miss Pat were the best backed in the Maiden Stakes, and the pair filled the places. Miss Pat began best, but when the field settled down she had been joined by White Ringlet, and the pair led Powhiri, Lady Cynthia, and Bissac to the turn. The leaders were well clear in the straight, and in a good battle White Ringlet beat Miss Pat bv a head. Powhiri was three-parts of a length back third, followed by Bissac and Vexatious. I SPRINT TO BONIDEER All started in the Pohanguna Handicap, and most money came for Polyphemus and Gold Box. Bonideer was first away. Penman being badly lett. Passing the half-mile post Bonideer was a couple of lengths in front of Gold Box, Arataura and Polyphemus. Running into the home stretch Boni- | deer had a commanding lead, and it j was sufficient to allow her to win by four lengths. Gold Box was half a length to the good of Allmarimba, with Aratura fourth and Morose and Polyphemus next. Kilmezzo was a decided favourite in the Komako Handicap, Lin Arlington being the best backed of the others. Kilmezzo was first away and he showed the way down the back to Rising Star, Peggy Ford. Merle, Gardant and Lin Arlington. The last-named made a forward move on the far turn, and went up into third position behind Kilmezzo and Rising Star. Kilmezzo ran a little wide at the turn, but he was going very easily, and at the finish had two lengths to spare. Both Merle and Petal finished fast, and filled the minor places, with Lin Arlingj ton close up fourth, and Rising Star next. NARROW MARGIN VICTORY lvilfare and Killochra carried the big money in the Ashhurst Cup, a field of leu runners going to the post. The bracketed pair, Pantler and Pangolin, were slow to begin, and Killochra and Kilhure showed out first. Passing the stand the order was Pangolin. Othon, Killochra. Kiltaire, Road Hog and Mali Jong, with Pantlor still last. Killaire dropped hack entering the back, •ud Pangolin still led from Santonio, road Hog, Othon and Killochra. Apu'oaching the far turn both Killochra and Kilfaire improved their position, and they were first to turn for home, isukumai was just in behind the pair, with Pangolin and Road Hog at the : head of the others. Kilfaire had TCili loclira beaten at the distance. Nukumai came with a great run but could not get Kilfaire. who won bv a head. Over two lengths back was Killochra and then came Road Hog, Pangolin, Merry Day and Othon. There was only one horse backed in the Siberia Handicap, and that was Cerf. He got all the best of the jump away, and led out from Rovul Land. Twink, Starboard Light, Bent and Bank Draft. Royal Land soon joined the leader, and the pair were in command coming round the turn. Starhoard Light, Addlepate and Twink following. Cerf shook off Roval Land | once into the straight, and appealed to bo winning easily when Addlepate came on the outside. Cerf. however, had a little in hand, and ho won by half a length. Addlepate was two lengths ahead of Starboard Light, with Royal Land and Twink next. The Raumai Handicap was productive of good speculation .and the favourite turned up in Monaghan. Birthmark got the best of the start from Prince Hal and Aratura, with the favourite well hack. With half the journey covered, quite a number of changes had been made. Aratura was then the leader, with Monaglian and Prince Hal band.v. Misgovern. Newbury King and Stream. Monaghan was in tho van ns they turned for home, and lie kept his lead, winning by over a lcngLh. Aratura was a length in
front of Prince Hal, with Misgovern fourth and Stream next. Of the twelve runners in the Gorge Handicap. Bonhomme was most in demand. Conviction led early from Mountain Star, Gordon Swift, and Bonhomme, with Brigadier Bill ami Takaroa next. On the turn Reed took Bonhomme up to the leaders, and he' came into the straight in front of Conviction, General Wai. Peggy Ford and Brigadier Bill. Bonhomme held his own in the run to the post, and he won by three parts of a length from General Wai. Capitulation finished fast in third place, and was a similar distance away with Conviction, who met with interference over the last bit, fourth, and Boy next.
