MASTERTON November ?4. The following officials were appointed last night by the Aiasterton Amateur Athletic Club to control the athletic events at the Masterton Beautifying Carnival: —Referee, Mr G. McKay; supervisor, Mr D, F. Mac Kay; handicapper, Mr R. Cowie; starter, Mr W. S. L. Dickson; call steward, Mr E. Grantham; blackboard steward, Mr G. Hunter; lap steward, Mr E. Grantham; judges, Messrs G* W. Sellar, C. M. Strouts and Dr. G. H. Uttley; timekeepers, Messrs E. L. Holmwood, J. Bird and L. S. Nicol; marksmen, Messrs E. Selby, G. Oakley and A. H. Brennan; megaphonist, Mr E. J. Heffer; local officer, Mr W. G. Waterson; track steward, Mr A. H. Brennan. There are eight typhoid fever patients in the Masterton Hospital. The Masterton Manchester Unity Oddfellows’ Lodge has elected the following officers for the ensuing term: —N.G., Bro. A. Rick; V.G., Bro. J. C. Johnstone; K.S., Bro. L. Tail; management committee. Sister A. Emery, J. E. Cane, J. Langley; auditors, Bros. P. M. Smith. F. H. Wright; lecture master, Bro. A. Rippon. At the annual meeting of the Mn«terton women’s hostel yesterday, tho following wer elected a house management committee: —Mrs H. Ft. Beetham (chairwoman); Miss \ al-i-mce, honorary secretory; Mosdame* A. H. Darnell, R. Page, T. Jordan, •f. (’aselborg and .Miss Boddington. The weekly competition of the Mas--‘Tton-Opaki Rifle Club was won by /. Shaw, with a score of 79.
