LOSS TO TECHNICAL EDUCATION "The death of Mr Walter Hill, of Christchurch, has removed a great friend of technical education,” says the principal of the WeUingtcm Technical College m his report to the board. “It was through Mr Hill’s encouragement ana very active help the first instruction in wool-classing was given in New Zealand at the Christchurch Technical College. For many years Mr Hill furnished the college with a regular supply of wool for the purposes of instruction in classing without whjch, it would have been impossible to carry on. He also examined the students every year and reported to the hoard on their work. ‘‘-Mr Hill was the representative in K<sw Zealand of a great Bradford firm, wild was at one time the largest Wool buyer in New Zealand. As the result »! the instruction which he initiated ini 1905, the sinall farmer in particular S; this country has received much greater returns for his wool through tews proper wool-classipg and gfadirig twitch such instruction nas made posfih e.”
