CLUB FLOWER SHOW
DISPLAY OF DECORATIVE WORK The annual Flower Show of the Pioneer Club Garden Circle was held yesterday afternoon, when there was a beautiful display, especially of roses. The show. was under the charge of Mrs Fisher (president) and Miss Isaacs (secretary of the circle), assisted by Mrs Myers, Mrs Duncan', Mr Potter and others. The entries were displayed in the hall, the decorative work being arranged on the stage. Miss Cooper, who judged this, stated that it was of a higher quality than before, there being q large number of entries and all were of a high order. The prize (a bowl presented by Mrs J. Myers) for the highest number of points won in the decorative work was won by Mrs D. Isaacs, while Mrs Jervis won firsts for bouquet .of roses, posy and vase of Iceland poppies. Miss Martin was winner for basket of roses, and second in a bowl of flowers, whilo Miss T>. Isaacs, Mra Greenshields, Mrs Waters, Mrs Vickery, Mrs Roskruge and Mrs Andrews were other exhibitors who gained prizes for different entries. The rose bowl given by the president of the club, for the winner of the highest number of points in cut flowers and vegetables was . won by Mrs , Reich, who was already the holder for the past year. In this section Mis# Isaacs came second by a difference of only a few points. A prize for the exhibitor who did not employ a gardener was tied by Mrs Roskruge and Miss Martin, and others who showed good collections of flowers in this section were Mrs Kirk, Mrs Righton, Mrs Vickery and Mrs H. Ross. Mrs Reich was a winner in roses largely, though Mrs Petherick won the prize for the best six blooms of distinct varieties, and Mrß Arlow, Mrs Vickery and Miss Wood were .other exhibitors who gained points. Miss Isaacs won in lxias, aquilegia, larkspur, and gladioli, and was also a winner in vegetable section; Mrs Reich in iris, lupin, poppies, etc. Mrs Roskruge showed some fine gladioli, Miss Wood was first for sweet William, Mrs Weston showed sweet peas, and Mrs Arlow won prizes for her pansies. A prize for the best decorated basket was won by Mrs Martin, and for an Old English posy was won by Mrs Jervis. The show was opened by the club president, Miss A. Kane, who congratulated the circle members on the good display made, and thanked (on behalf of Mrs Fisher) Miss Isaacs and those who bad assisted in getting the show ready.
