DIVORCE GRANTED
COUNTESS HARDWICKE FORMERLY A NEW ZEALANDER. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, November 22. Countess HardWicke, who was formerly Miss Nellie Russell, of Auckland, NeW Zealand, obtained a degree nisi in an undefended petition for ‘ divorce on the ground of Ebrl Hardwicke’s misconduct. The marriage took place in London in 1911. The only child, is a girl, now 14 years old. The husband began to associate with other women during the war, according to the. evidence, and the petitioner forgave him, but in consequence of his behaviour she left him in 1020. The sari suggested a separation, admitting tii*t he alone was responsible for the trouble. Petitioner tried to induce her husband to return, hoping he would reform, but the Earl had refused to return.
In letters from the Karl to the Countess he ndmitted that he was »olely to blame, but declined the lountess’s suggestion that they <-!im<!d resume their relationship, if only lor the sake of child*
