COMPLETED
The Pacific Cable Board announces the completion of the laying of the new cables from Bamfield to Fanning Island and from Fanning Island to Suva. Final splace was made on the latter at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the 20th, and on the Bam-field-Fanning Island section at 3 p.m. on Sunday, 21st. Both cables are reported to be testing satisfactorily. The work has been delayed on account of exception, ally unfavourable feather at both Fanning Island and Suva. The cables remain in the contractors' hands for a further 30 days, and if they continue to test electrically perfect for that period of submersion they are then taken over by the board for the transmission of traffic.
