PERSONAL AND GENERAL (From Our Own Correspondent.) MASTERTON, November 20. Th© rose and sweetpen show of tho Cavterton Horticultural Society was held yesterday, and went off very successfully. Th© entries were good, and competition in many classes was keen. Tli© champion rose was a “Premier* variety, exhibited by Mrs W. H. j Booth. Special prizes were won as under :—Silver cup for cut blooms, Mrs Douglas Stewart, Feathe©*ston; silver cup for most points in vegetable classes, Mr A. King, Carterton ; silver cup for most points in cut blooms, cottagers’ section, Mr J. Candy, Mastortonj silver cup for champion rose, .vir.i W. Henry Booth; points prize in decorative classes, Mrs A. Pink; points prize in children’s cooking, Gladys Knowles 1, Gladys Allen 2; special prize in children’s decorative section. Mary Booth; champion pansy, Mrs j Scharnwebcr. Mr H. Croslic, of Dnnnevirke, has been, appointed manager of the Belvedere Co-operative Dairy Factory. I The Wairarapa South County Coun- j cil has received 38 applications for the I position of clerk, and these have been I narrowed down to three, who are to be asked to personally interview the'council. j At n meeting of the stewards of the i Wairarapa Racing Club the treasurer J reported that the receipts sine© last ! meeting were £197. It vrns decided to] engage th© Carterton Band for the New f Tear meeting. One resignation was received. It was decided that the eater- ! ni" committee control the distribution ! of stewards’ luncheon tickets. Dr M. ! D. Prit© was elected a member and ! hou. surgeon of the club.
