THE CANADIAN TOUR
SOCCER ITINERARY FIXED FROM MAY 23 TO AUGUST 2 CANADA’S STRONGEST TEAM A special meeting of the New Zealand Football Association has just concluded which was called for the purpose of discussing and finalising details of the proposed tour of the Canadian Soccer team in 1927. Representatives from practically the Whole of the associations affiliated with the council attended and expressed themselves unanimously in favour of the tour taking place. The council placed before the meeting all the information relative to the estimated costs and receipts of the tour. The cost is. estimated at between £7OOO and £SOOO. The team will leave Vancouver by the s.s. Niagara on May 4tU, arriving in Auckland on May 23rd, and leaving Auckland by the Niagara for home on August 2nd. The team will be in New' Zealand for ten weeks, and Australia does not take part in the itinerary, which is as follows: —- May 3rd, 1927—Arrive at Auckland. May 25th, W.—Against Wanganui. May 28th, S.—Against Manawatu. June Ist, W.—Against Taranaki. June 3rd, F.—Against Wellington. Juno 4th, S.— June Bth, W.—Against Nelson. June 11th, S. —Against Uuller. Judo loth, W. — Against Westland. June 18th, S.—Otago. June 22nd, W.—Southland. June 2oth, S.—FIRST TEST, Dunedin. June 29th, W Against Canterbury. July 2nd, S.—SECOND TEST, Christchurch. July Gita, W.—Against Masterton. July 9th, S.—THIRD TEST, Wellington. July 13th, W. —Against Napier. July 16th, S. —Against Poverty Bay. July 20tli, W.—Against South Auckland. July 23rd, S. —Against Auckland. July 27th, W.—Against North Auckland. July 30th, S.—FOURTH TEST, Auckland. August 2nd. —Leave Auckland. The council has asked the Canadian Association to agree to playing a match against Marlborough on Juno 7th, in which case the match _ set down for June Bth against Nelson will be played on Thursday, June 9th. Advices received from Canada state that the strongest team which has ever represented Canada will be sent to tour New Zealand. The team will consist of 18 players and a manager. An advance agent will be appointed who w'ill undertake the defy of assisting the secretaries prior to the matches taking place in the various centres. The Government Tourist Department has undertaken control of the team right through New Zealand.
