NOVEL COMPETITION

BALLOON RACES. At noon to-day in Post Office square commences a series of novel races. Balloons are to be released, and. the one that goes the greatest distance and the label returned before 5 p.m. on December 18th. 1926, the sender will receive a very substantial money prize. The organiser has run a considerable number of these races, in England and has found them to be a very popular form of sport. A toy balloon released by Miss Gladys Smith, from Tenterden, Kent, has been returned from Algeria, having travelled a distance of over 1100 miles, and the organisers are confident that these races will become very popular.
