WEEK-END ACCIDENTS

CHILD INJURED AT PETONE CAR AND MOTOR-CYCLE COLLIDE. Two week-end accidents were reported by the hospital authorities last evening. As the result of a collision between n motir-cnr and a motor-cycle in the Ngnhauranga surge yesterday morning Gordon Mackay, aged 22 years, the cy.plist in question, residing at 40, Hmitana street, Lower Hutt, received injuries which necessitated his removal to the hospital, He wns admitted at 12.50 suffering from injuries to the right foot. As the result of being knocked down bv a motor-car while crossing the Esplanade at Petone to the bench at 3.30 p.m. yesterday, a small boy, Jack Pickles, aged 5j years, residing _ with his parents at 11, Vera street, Karori, received grave injuries to which lie succumbed.

The boy was attended by Dr. Hislop almost immediately following the accident, and it was ascertained that lie had suffered injuries of a very serious nature. Ha was conveyed to the Wellington Hospital, where he was admitted at 4.35 p.m., suffering from concussion of the brain and internal injuries. Shortly before 6 o’clock the child succumbed. The driver of the car was Andrew Percy Warring, residing at 179, Onepu road, Lyall Buy. All inquest will be held.
