SWIMMING
WELLINGTON CLUB OPENS GOOD FORM SHOWN. Despite the fact that there was ■ Tdr; keen wind blowing, a targe number of swimmers attended the official opening of the Wellington Swimming Club at the Te Aro baths on Saturday afternoon. Owing to the unavoidable absence of the Major (Mr C. J. B. Norwood) tbo opening ceremony was performed by Mr J. P. Maxwell, president of the club, who wished members every success for the coming season. A number of representatives of other clubs were also present. During the afternoon several races were decided, the following being the results:— 50 Yards President’s Cup Race.— I. McHardy 1, Rix-Trott 2, J. Blakely 3. Time, B6ses Lloyd Cup (boys) Race.—V. Ames 1, K. Spry 2, Gallate 3. Time, 33 sec 50 Yards Inter-club Race.—M. Chevin 1, J. Lawson 2, B. Look 3. All the swimmers were in good form and each race was keenly and closely cohtested.
